After being forgotten since the mid-70’s, the Foo Fighters will bring back “Cal Jam” Festival in 2018.
The Cal Jam 17′ festival was a show for the ages. The Foo Fighters put together an energetic and efficient Cal Jam Fest in San Bernardino, California back in early October. The festival gathered an impressive lineup of 19 rock acts, including Cage the Elephant, Queens of the Stone Age, and many more.
Obviously, every music festival has that one significant moment everyone will remember forever. Of course, the festival occurred just days after the mass shooting at a Jason Aldean concert in Las Vegas, Nevada. Well, for Cal Jam 17′, that was the remarkable moment when the Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme spotted a sign in the crowd and immediately asked for it to be passed forward. When the sign made it’s way to the stage, he raised the sign above his head that had the words, “Vegas Strong,” written on it.
After that, Homme then flipped the sign over, which had the handwritten names of 58 country music fans that were killed at the Route 91 Harvest festival in Las Vegas. Homme then says,
“We are everything when we are together. Let’s have the fucking time of our lives.”
The crowd erupts.
The festival site also showcased a temporary museum that was dedicated to the Foo Fighters’ career. Cal Jam will indeed be back in San Bernardino, California’s Glen Helen Regional Park & Festival Grounds on October 5th and 6th in 2018. Foo Fighters will once again serve as the festival’s headliners with additional acts to be announced at a later date.
Due to the success of their recent album Concrete and Gold, the Foo Fighters will have more than enough music for the music fans in California in 2018. Oddly enough, it was their ninth studio album. But, this one peaked at the #1 spot on the US Billboard Top 200 list, US Top Alternative Album, US Top Hard Rock Album, and US Top Rock Album. On top of that, have extended their current tour all the way through Fall 2018.
Since I’m a Midwest native, more than likely I won’t make the event. But, they will be playing at the Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center in Indianapolis, Indiana in July in 2018, where I’ll be able to check them out in person for the first time. Be sure to keep up with the Foo Fighters to see if they’ll be coming to a city near you.
