This Day in Music History: Michael Jackson Makes History in 1988

This day in 1988, Michael Jackson became the first artist to achieve five number one singles from one album (Bad) when ‘Dirty Diana’ goes to the top of the US Billboard charts.

Michael Jackson was in his prime at this time in 1988. Making history with his album Bad, Jackson had then solidified his name in music history. Prior to this day, no album in history had five number one singles. Jackson then, made history by doing just that.

At this time, Jackson’s biggest single from this album was “Dirty Diana.” The other four were the title track, ‘I Just Can’t Stop Loving You’, ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’ and ‘Man In The Mirror’.

Obviously, his legacy lives on with us today and he remains one of the great music talents in history.
